Yellow-faced Siskin - Spinus yarrellii
Yellow-faced siskin has a length of about 10 centimeters. The females, in fact, lack the body yellow present only in the form of shades on the ventral area: the black cap is also missing, replaced (as is the yellow of the ventral areas) by olive green.
Habitat: widespread in north-eastern Brazil.
Feeding: granivorous, it feeds in particular on small seeds, but also on berries and sprouts. In the reproductive period, even small insects increase in energy requirements.
